A Massive Thank You! Fundraising Roundup

We Have the Best Supporters!

Since we last updated you at the end of February, we’ve been blown away by the incredible fundraising we’ve seen from our community! We know times are tough for everyone, which makes the fundraising you do for Cransley Hospice Trust mean even more than ever!

We started March with the touching story of a supporter, aged just 11-years old, who decided to run for a mile every day that month in memory of her Grandfather who was cared for in Cransley Hospice a few years ago. This inspirational young superstar raised a fantastic £190 for her efforts and we can’t thank her enough.

We had overwhelming support over the Easter period, with generous donations and fantastic fundraisers, held by both local businesses and individuals in our community.

Booker Wellingborough delivered an exciting Easter egg hunt alongside an Easter egg painting competition for families, as well as their much-loved Easter tombola. The Easter Bunny hid 60 golden eggs across the site for colleagues to find. Not only did this spark plenty of friendly competition, but it also helped to raise an amazing £534, all while strengthening team spirit and bringing everyone together!

On the 19th April, we hosted ‘Cransley’s Got Talent’ at The Lighthouse Theatre – a dazzling celebration of local talent and by all accounts, a fantastic night out! Supporter Lorraine who was in the audience on the night told us:

“The talent show this evening was amazing, fabulous hosts, brilliant judges who had the wow factor and what acts!! My sister and I enjoyed every moment.”

Thanks to the dedication of all eight of our acts, and the generosity of attendees on the night, we raised almost £7,500 from the event.

During ‘Marathon Season’ we were incredibly proud to have representation not only across the country, but also internationally too! We had Cransley Hospice Trust runners at marathons in Lake Garda, Rome, Manchester, Stratford Upon Avon and four runners in the London Marathon. Collectively, they raised an incredible £16,043! Enough to pay for over 21 day’s worth of 24-hour specialist care in our inpatient beds, what an incredible effort!

We also had five runners in the London Landmarks Half Marathon. Amie Craddock, one of our runners told us: “I can’t believe how amazing it was, I can’t walk now but it was worth every minute!” – and we couldn’t agree more, especially as between them the runners raised a fantastic £2,419!

Keeping with the active theme – what a sporty bunch our supporters are – we were also amazed by Rich Downs, as he took on an incredible challenge, running 100km in memory of his much-loved father-in-law, Keith Sutton in May.

Keith lived with myeloma for several years and spent his final nine days receiving care and support from Cransley Hospice. Inspired by the compassion shown to Keith and his family, Rich set out to give back by raising funds to support local hospice care.

He commented “It costs £755 per day on average to care for someone in Cransley Hospice. 9 days x £755 – I’d like to pay that back for the care that they gave him.”

Rich’s fundraiser remains open and has already raised an amazing £3,870. We are incredibly grateful for his determination, generosity and commitment to supporting Cransley Hospice Trust.

Our popular Golf Day moved venues to Wellingborough Golf Club this year, where a tee-rific time was had by everyone attending. The annual event brought together many local and regional businesses for a day of competitive golf, networking, and fundraising. We are so grateful to everyone who played a part in the success of the event, which raised an incredible £18,500!

By popular demand, we’ve already booked in the date for next year’s event – so make space in your diaries on 19th May 2027, it’s sure to be a hot ticket!

On the 24th May, brothers Will and George Groenland – with the incredible support of family, friends and the Thrapston community, hosted a six-a-side Cricket Match at Brigstock Cricket Club in memory of their incredible Mum, Louise. We are absolutely blown away that the brothers raised a phenomenal £16,515 for their efforts!

George commented: “I think Mum would have been proud. She had kept asking for the bill while she was in Cransley, so anything we can do to pay off her tab, it’s good! And if another person is then fortunate to receive the care that Mum got, then it’s a bonus.”

You will be able to see more from these inspirational brothers very soon, as we share their families’ experience of hospice care as part of our Go Green campaign… watch this space!

We were touched when supporter Toni Smith gave us a call to say that she’d been supporting us yet again. Toni held a May Day cake sale in Geddington, raising an amazing £105 for her efforts!

Toni and her sister Kerry have supported us through a number of incredible fundraising efforts, including the very first Starlight Walk, bake sales, challenge events – and later this year, taking on a marathon! Toni commented: “The hospice team really did go above and beyond to help both our Mum and our family. We are incredibly grateful for the care and support of Cransley Hospice in our time of need.”

The Beeswing in Kettering hosted a fabulous music event, ‘Dance Till Dawn,’ where DJ’s, friends and family came together to enjoy a night of quality music all whilst supporting local Hospice care. Their efforts truly paid off, as they managed to raise an incredible £2,306! Well done to all involved.

The Pavenham Golf Club recently hosted a ‘Captain’s Day,’ featuring a brilliant day of golf, prize-giving, and an evening dinner, all while raising vital donations. The sun was shining down on them and they managed to raise a sensational £1,857 for local hospice care!

And then just last weekend, on the 20th June we gathered together at Wicksteed Park where over 180 of you dazzled with us at our 6km ‘Sparkle Walk’ event! It was a warm night, but spirits were high and the love was evident!

It’s always one of our most joyous events, with groups celebrating the lives of those they wish were walking alongside them. We were joined by groups of all ages – and all walks of life – and while donations are still coming in, we are grateful that the event has already raised over £13,000! Thank you to everyone who sparkled with us.

It’s been such a positive and thrilling start to the year that it’s hard to imagine how we can continue this momentum – but we know we have the best supporters – and it’s your passion, enthusiasm, dedication and motivation that enables us to continue making ‘every moment matter’ for patients and their families in our local community. Whatever way you choose to support us, please know how much your help is truly valued! THANK YOU.
